SEPTEMBER WHIRLWIND

HOME AT LAST

September 2nd was my first Sunday AM at Shawnee Baptist Church this year.  What a blessing to see and talk to so many of the folks we love.  Pastor Dave Delaney’s preaching was powerful and practical.  It was a joy to see the salvations and baptisms.  The music was blessed and beautiful honoring the Lord.

MEN’S MEETING ASHTABULA, OH

Nancy took me to the Louisville Airport on Friday so that I could fly to Ashtabula, Ohio to be with our dear friends at Lighthouse Baptist Church where a men’s meeting had been planned for Saturday.  I enjoyed the great fellowship and the messages I had opportunity to hear and the two times I had the privilege of speaking to the great group of men.  Pastor John Jones was a great host. The church did a great job.  Mrs. Judy Jones oversaw the  16 ounce Portobello Steak Dinner.  Lighthouse Baptist Church is the home of Lighthouse Legal Ministry a ministry of the church directed by Attorney Terry Hamilton.  They are doing a great work for Christ.  What a delightful time it was to see scores of men making strong life decisions to the glory of God.

GRANDPARENTS DAY IN MINSTER, OH

Saturday Afternoon I headed to the Airport in Cleveland to catch a flight to Cincinnati, OH where Nancy was picking me up so that we could drive to Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in Minster, OH to be with Pastor Brad Smith for Grandparents’ Day.  We arrived in Minister around midnight .  Everything was set for a great day.  Bro. Smith is doing a great job.  The future for this church is bright.  We sure enjoyed our fellowship with Bro. Smith and the church family.  The friendliness of the church was outstanding and reflected the spirit of the pastor and his wife Kristen.

FILLIN’ THE PULPIT IN ATHENS, AL

On Wednesday evening, headed to Florida, we stopped in Athens, AL to fill the pulpit for Pastor Juaken Dumas who was on a trip with his family.  This is a powerful Bible preaching and practicing church.  It was an honor to preach at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church again.  The Lord met with us in a real way.  On my travels or at home, whenever I have an opening I always find it a joy in preaching for a solid church.

PREACHING LOVE WITH THE LOVE BUGS

We really enjoyed our meeting at Harvest Baptist Church in Panasoffkee, FL with Pastor Tim Stine.  As always we were working and praying for revival.  Somehow when I thought of Florida, I didn’t think of a country church.  However I don’t think I have been in a church in KY that was much more rural.  We had a great meeting.  We enjoyed getting to know the Stine family and the church family.  I am thankful for the souls saved and the life changing decisions that took place.  It was Love Bug season and we used a 4,009 pound car to kill thousands of them as they did their seasonal swarm throughout the day.

ATLANTA AREA HERE WE COME

When we finished in Panasoffkee, FL we headed to Atlanta, Ga area and had the joy of preaching in three great churches.

GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH – FAYETTEVILLE, GA

Pastor Zach and Mrs. Angie Wagner and the people of Grace Baptist Church were delightful to be with.  I had the joy of teaching Sunday School, Preaching morning and afternoon services.  The fellowship was sweet.  The Lord met with us in a powerful way.  Bro. Wagner is in his second year as pastor of Grace Baptist.  It is exciting to be with young men who have decided not to compromise their stand on the Word of God.

TRI-COUNTY BAPTIST CHURCH – SENOIA, GA

Pastor Ron and Mrs. Eileen Whitlock were wonderful hosts in their beautiful home.  Bro. Whitlock is a veteran pastor and and educator.  I enjoyed preaching the Sunday evening service to a solid crowd of members.  God has used him for many years as the principal of a Christian school teaching and training young people both academically and in the service of the Lord.  God has allowed him to raise up a strong local church with a testimony of solid Fundamentalism.  Nancy and I enjoyed meeting these folks and look forward to future fellowship.

BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH – NEWNAN, GA (Oct 3rd)

Pastor Doug and Mrs. Linda Anderson have an amazing ministry.  The church has been through great testing and yet they have led the church to continue on by faith.  In addition to preaching the Wednesday evening service I had the joy of speaking to the Newnan Christian School a ministry of the church since 1975. Nancy and I enjoyed some extended fellowship with the Newnan Family.  Souls are being saved on a regular basis at Bible Baptist Church, Newnan.  I believe they have a bright future.

I’M THANKFUL TO THE LORD FOR THE BLESSINGS OF GOD

God has been so good to Nancy and me as we travel.  We have spread Gospel tracts across the country by the hundreds.  Folks have been saved through personal soul winning and by professions of faith in the services.  We have met many new friends and learned a great deal from other pastors and Christian leaders we have met.

We are now trying to schedule for year end and the year 2013.  If you have an interest you can go to my website http://www.lonniemattingly.com and click on the calendar link to see what may be available.

Please keep us in your prayers.
