About

Bro. Lonnie Mattingly was born in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from United Electronics Laboratories as an electronics technician.  He worked at IBM for 5 years prior to God’s call to preach.  He attended Western Kentucky University while serving on staff at Glendale Baptist Church in Bowling Green, KY.

Upon retiring in December of 2009, Bro. Lonnie Mattingly became the Pastor Emeritus of Shawnee Baptist Church, which he had pastored for 37 years.  Under his leadership, Shawnee Baptist, a multi-ministry church, grew from 60 to an average attendance of over 1,200 weekly with several Sundays over 2,000 and a high day of over 3,500.  For the last several years of his pastorate, the church averaged baptizing over 400 converts per year with a high of over 700.

Under his direction, Shawnee Baptist Church also began hosting and continues to host an annual Youth Conference with hundreds of teens as well as college and career young people from around America in attendance.  Bro. Mattingly led the church in the founding of Northside Christian School and the former Shawnee Baptist College (which has had students from over 20 states and currently has pastors, missionaries, school teachers, youth leaders, etc. serving around the country).   Also under his direction, the church began operating the 180 acre Indian Creek Baptist Camp located in Southern Indiana with a capacity for 400 teenagers and juniors per week during the summer.

He served as Administrative Pastor for Pastor Tim Russ at the Greater Vision Baptist Church in Owensboro, Kentucky for just over 2 years.

Currently, Bro. Lonnie began pastoring a rural church in Ramsey, Indiana, NORTH HARRISON BAPTIST CHURCH in April of 2016 with a unanimous call of 13 members.  He is praying that God will send genuine revival to South central Indiana.

Bro. Lonnie still has a burden for the training of young people for the ministry and spends much of his year traveling with his wife Nancy to churches preaching and teaching God’s Word.  In addition to preaching revivals he speaks for leadership training seminars, missions conferences, stewardship and many other subjects.  He and Nancy also have conducted many couples retreats across the country.

Bro. Mattingly has a series of published messages preached from the pulpit of Shawnee Baptist Church available in a printed pamphlet format. He is also the author of the book, Reaching Your Fruit Bearing Potential.   Holding true to his life verse, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”  John 15:8

He and his wife Nancy were married on May 9th, 1964 and have 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
