What a May this has been. God has blessed in so many ways. We have been in seven churches and have one more to go. Nancy has had three ladies meetings including two banquets and a ladies game night. God has use her in a wonderful way. I will quickly give you a brief summary of the opportunities God has given us.
FIRST STOP – GREATER VISION BAPTIST CHURCH – Owensboro, KY
What a wonderful time at Greater Vision with Pastor and Mrs. Tim
Russ. God has given them a wonderful family and a powerful ministry . The Workers Summit was a greatly blessed. The Sunday Services were very encouraging. The vision of Bro. Russ is amazing. We swung back by Greater Vision later in the month where Nancy conducted a “Ladies Game Night.” Reports were positive about a time of much needed fellowship among the ladies of the church.
Bro. Russ is leading the church in the process of starting a building program that will enhance their ability to have an increasingly active outreach and help with the moving of the crowds.
SECOND STOP – CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH – Flora, IL
What a blessing to be with Pastor and Mrs. Mike Evans and their family. God really encouraged my heart through every aspect of the services. It started with Nancy on Saturday with a Mother Daughter Banquet. Throughout the week the attendance was good, the altars were full, many salvation decisions were made and baptismal waters were
stirred. The fellowship was sweet. The prospects for this church under thecapable leadership of Bro Evans are as bright as the promises of God. I fully expect to hear of great things happening at Calvary. Bro. Evans is a genuine fundamental Baptist preacher.
THIRD STOP – FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH – Clinton, IL
The crowds were amazing it Clinton, IL where Nancy spoke at a Mother Daughter Banquet on Saturday as a prelude to a Sunday through Wednesday Family Conference that was conducted at First Baptist Church of Clinton, IL where Bro. John Roberson is pastor.
Bro. John and Mrs Sherri Roberson were wonderful hosts. Their leadership has been blessed of the Lord to give the church a great outreach to their city and surrounding areas. They have a strong godly family. The Lord blessed every service with wonderful responses to the invitation. I thank the Lord for another church that has refused to compromise.
4TH STOP-HARVEST BAPTIST TABERNACLE-Jonesboro GA
I had the exciting opportunity to fly into Jonesboro, GA to spend the day with . Pictured above is Bro. Joe’s family. We had a great time of fellowship. It was a real honor to preach for Bro. Joe. Preaching at Harvest Baptist Tabernacle is an experience that will leave a lasting impression. This is a church that reflects the pumped up positive attitude of its pastor. If you happen to be passing through the Atlanta area, this is one church you would want to visit. Bro. Joe is a man in demand in our fundamental circles. God has given him a good staff and a church that understands his value to other churches as they share him with the nation.
5th STOP – BIBLE BAPTIST CHURCH – Terre Haute, IN
The next stop along the revival trail was in Terre Haute, IN with Dr. Bob Parker. Nancy and I had intended to visit there to hear an Evangelist that was scheduled to preach. Dr. Parker called and notified me that the Evangelist had some medical issues and asked if I would preach the night I had planned to attend. To say the least, I was delighted to be the substitute preacher. The Lord met with us and gave many strong decisions for Christ. God is blessing this ministry in a very visible way. The fellowship with the Parkers was delightful. A bonus during this visit was the hearing Steve and Bonita Epley provide the special music and spend some time of fellowship with them.
6th STOP – OLIVE BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCH – Linton, IN
The time with Pastor and Mrs. Dan Kemp in at Olive Branch Baptist was a real blessing. Bro. Kemp has faithfully stood for the fundamentals of the faith through some difficult opposition. He has prevailed and this historic church now has some real unity and a renewed potential to make an impact for Christ. Several preachers preached Sunday through Tuesday. I had the opportunity preach the closing service of the conference on Wednesday evening. The Kemps are the kind of folks you enjoy being around. It seems their goal is not to use others but rather to be used of God in serving others.
7th STOP- VICTORY BAPTIST CHURCH – New Salisbury, IN
We had the opportunity to spend the Sunday prior to Memorial day near home at the Victory Baptist Church. Pastor Daniel Bates and his wife Jackie are both graduates of Shawnee Baptist College. Daniel became pastor of Victory a year ago. Even though the church is in a rural area it has nearly doubled from the low 20s to the mid 50s in the year Bro. Daniel has been the pastor. We had wonderful services throughout the day. One of the highlights was a man who came forward a the invitation to present himself to the church for baptism and membership. On further inquiry with the man I discovered that he was a second time visitor to Victory, his boy was in the nursery and he had been saved as a teenager at Shawnee Baptist Church while I was pastor.
MAY DAZE CONTINUED Granddaughter Kara Newton Graduates
We have really been on the run. In addition to the churches and meetings (with one to go…. Agape in Stockton MO) we have also had the joy of attending the events surrounding the graduation from Northside Christian School of our GRANDDAUGHTER KARA NEWTON. We had Senior Celebration Banquet on Friday evening, Graduation on Saturday after noon and Graduation Party at our house with over 150 attending on Sunday between Church services. Now I’m really in a DAZE.
I want to thank so many for keeping us on your prayer list and praying for us when we come to mind. We have asked the Lord to keep us busy and He certainly has. Since God has redirected our ministry we have made so many new friends. This month God gave us many saved, baptisms, new church members and scores of decisions at the old fashioned altar. Please pray for God’s wisdom, power and direction as we serve Him.
